This is the first of what will hopefully be a monthly update on our “neighborhood’s going’s-on”. This month the new Board will introduce themselves.
Dave Muth, President and Joan Muth, Corresponding Secretary:
Joan and I and our two sons moved to the neighborhood in 2001, having moved from North Carolina and California prior to that, where we grew up. Surfing, tennis, and a little golf was my thing. Joan’s was going to the beach and camping. My career with the airlines took a fateful turn after 9/11 so we switched gears. Some of you might remember our Baja Malibu Grill restaurant on Central Ave. Joan is an RN at John Hopkins All Children’s Hospital. I’m retired from the Naval Reserve and I’m getting close to retiring from the Bay Pines VA. Our sons went to St. Pete Catholic and graduated from UCF, so we are now empty nesters. We love the neighborhood and enjoy boating, biking, paddle boarding, fishing and I still like to surf little waves. We’ve been involved with the Board for a couple of years and thought it a good idea to participate after we took advantage of the Halloween parties all those years.
Rick Gilbert, Vice President:
My wife and I moved to 1340 Dixie approximately 15 months ago from Town Shores in Gulfport where we lived for 10 years. We love this neighborhood and the security that it has provided. We have lived close to the water for many years and it is one reason we moved here. We have a boat at Mariners Cove Marina in Gulfport and just love being so close to the Gulf. For the past 10 years I have owned a mostly commercial lawn maintenance business and also do property management. My wife has worked for the Pinellas County School Board for 28 years and is currently the guidance counselor for the Criminal Justice Program at Pinellas Park High School.
Laurie Thompson, Treasurer:
I am a graduate of USF (Business) and have been a paralegal for longer than I can remember. My husband Jim and I found this little piece of heaven in 2009 and moved into our home in December 2010. We love our home, the neighborhood, and our neighbors!
Ron Gicka, Recording Secretary:
Ron and his wife Courtney and their two children moved to the neighborhood in October 2016. Ron grew up in south St. Pete before moving to Melbourne, FL for college and then Baltimore, MD for work. Tired of shoveling snow and wanting to be closer to family, the Gicka’s settled on Pasadena Golf Club Estates and have been enjoying the sunshine ever since! While not chasing our toddlers, we enjoy fixing up our new home, sunsets on the beach, and being a part of such a great community.
Sheila Eveland, Past President:
I moved into the neighborhood with my parents, sister and brothers in 1967 and still live in the same house. I am President of Eveland Brothers, Inc., a family owned commercial construction
business. I am active in my church, Most Holy Name of Jesus, and a few of my hobbies include gardening, reading and sewing. I have been involved on the Civic Group Board since 2011 starting as Recording Secretary, then Vice President and Twice President 2014 -2015 and 2017-2018.
Thank you for allowing us this opportunity and your continued support by your membership and participation, especially volunteering. With this introduction, and you getting to know us, we will hopefully see you at our upcoming events and get to know you.
Until next month, best regards,
