A Gulfport act of kindness

Posted on a neighborhood blog:

Today, I wanted to share a beautiful act of kindness in Gulfport. As I was stopped at a pedestrian crosswalk I noticed an elderly woman with a walker gazing at the traffic and hesitating to cross. A Gulfport police officer walked up to the crosswalk and helped her across the street. This act touched my heart so much that I had to turn the car around and drive back to thank him for what he did. I asked him his name and told him how grateful I was to see someone reaching out as he did. His name is Officer Petit and he talked about what a sweet older woman she is, doesn’t speak much English, and sometimes gets a little confused. So, Officer Petit, thank you for taking the time to care, show respect, and keep us safe every day.
