May President’s Message

Hello Neighbors,
Thanks to all who attended the Spring Fling and the Election of Officers. The new board this next year will mostly remain the same for a second term with a few exceptions.

-Rick Gilbert is stepping down and will be greatly missed

-Laurie Thompson will be taking over as Corresponding Secretary
-We welcome Stephanie Slavic as the new Treasurer.
The 64th Street housing project update:  Our board convened for a brief meeting to share what information we have gathered concerning the sale of the church.  Our board will continue to pass along all the information we get.  This is a deep look at what city officials told neighbors last week in the first public hearing.
Gulfport City Councilmen, Paul Ray, represents the residents immediately across the street from this proposed site. He will also request to have a public meeting in Gulfport with Mr. Gerdes, open to all, prior to the May 16th meeting. Look for that information in the Gabber issue the following week.
Mr. Ray also mentioned that the St. Petersburg City Council meeting scheduled to vote on the property sale, May 16th, will now allow non-residents to speak at that meeting. There is process that needs to be followed to give input. That meeting starts at 3pm, but the schedule for that item on the agenda is not known.
Also, there was a garage door opener found in the neighborhood. Please contact Carol at 727-345-5238.
