“The city decided to use the colors from our city’s logos – yellow, orange, red and blue – which pictures the sun setting into the bay behind a white heron,” Mayor Arthur Penny said.
The benches are made from recycled plastic. The company that makes them says each bench keeps 540 milk jugs out of a landfill.
Citizens can sponsor their own individual benches at $400 each, with a customized plaque included with the sponsorship. To sign up to sponsor a bench, please fill out a Sun Bench Sponsorship Form and submit it to City Hall with your payment of $400.
